Chopsticks Alley Presents: “Our Stories” Podcast
SAN JOSE, California–– chopsticksalley.com will be releasing the first episode of its new podcast “Our Stories” on Friday, April 16, 2021.
The podcast will focus on how Asian American Pacific Islanders identity has historically been defined and how it is being redefined today. In addition to highlighting themes and events in Asian American history, it also explores how Asian Americans are actively influencing American culture.
Zach Anderson, a contributor to chopsticksalley.com and the host of “Our Stories” said that the creation of the podcast was a response to the recent rise of hate crimes against the Asian community.
“The goal of ‘Our Stories’ is to make the stories and histories of the Asian Pacific Island diasporas in America more accessible to both Asians and non-Asians alike; especially now when these heinous attacks on our community are perpetrated as a result of a media narrative and political rhetoric concerning the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Anderson. “This podcast will not only help young Asian Americans discover where they came from, but also act as a resource for non-Asians who wish to either learn more about our history or become better allies for our communities.”
Anderson has been a contributor to chopsticksalley.com since February and is of Filipino and Chamorro descent. A fiction writer and former journalist for Sacramento City College’s student newspaper, “The Express,” he graduated with a degree in Writing and Literature from California College of the Arts where he also served as managing editor of the undergraduate literary magazine “Humble Pie.” He lives in Sacramento.
Trami Cron, the editor and founder of Chopsticks Alley, also expressed her excitement for the prodcast.
“This podcast series will not only celebrate Asian American accomplishment, but will also highlight misconceptions about this community,” said Cron.
“Our Stories” will be released on Friday April 16, 2021 on Spotify at Our Stories presented by Chopsticks Alley.
