Featuring Photographer Mark F. Erickson and author of the photobook Other Streets: Scenes from a Life in Vietnam not Lived. Mark was born in Saigon in 1972, evacuated as part of Operation Babylift in April 1975, and adopted by an American family in western New York. At Harvard College, he studied documentary photography with Chris Killip (United Kingdom) and David Goldblatt (South Africa). He currently works in New York City. *2019 Photobook Awards - Official Selection, the L.A. Center of Photography We will also discuss interracial Black & Vietnamese Families with advocate Wanda Foust from Alabama. An Bùi is a writer, community organizer, and facilitator who loves to embrace the complexities of her emotions through laughing and crying. Through her writing, she explores the lens of daughterhood, living in San José as a queer Việt artist, and navigating the grief of losing her younger brother. Social justice and spirituality are the pillars that guide and inform her work. She dreams about a world where care exists on a structural, community, and individual level.
